The Power of One

I am sure that we have all hoped that for at least once in our lives, we will experience something special. We discover that what is special is unique to each soul, but that occasionally souls agree. I got my much needed Temp fix at the Chicago concert Saturday and for me, this was special. I realized that somewhere between the general light-hearted chatter in the hallway before the show and the moment they ascend to the stage to give every ounce of musical chitlins, if you will, something magical happens. The power of five explodes into the power of one as they blend and merge with their presence on stage. The show was highlighted by the standing ovation tribute to O; Bo's titillating rendition of Promise; Terry's incredible smooth sound; the always sensual Ty; and the soulful booming of Harry. As always, the guys were impeccably tailored and moving in sync as they inflicted sweet torture on an audience that no doubt wanted to STAY and be Tempted. When they reached out and captured the audience with their inescapable smiles, we acted like any other animal caught in a trap, we knew we might as well surrender. And surrender we did. Surely, by now, we should know how to get out of the cage, but no one, including me, was looking for the door, therefore, I will simply rejoice in the splendor of the experience and wait for my next fix, knowing that each time they ascend to the stage to accept the touch from God, they bring with them the spirit of all Temps, past and present, and most of all, they ascend with all of us who reach back and embrace them with our love and devotion. So I guess I discovered what Paul really meant when he said, "For once in my Life". He meant that "Once" can happen over and over and over and over again. Imagine!
